I am not certain why people need the specialist dentist but that is me.
It is more like taking your child to a pediatrician instead of your internist.

Mine are in college and still go to their pediatric dentist. They will switch when they graduate and move to wherever they move.

Otherwise, if you want to switch, then just take them to your dentist.

No advice, just agreeing with other posters. My dentist used to check and clean my older son’s teeth. When he was 7 years old he had a cavity and he told me to find a pediatric dentist. I tried another family dentist and was told the same thing , so you may find some unwilling to treat your son beyond cleanings.

I plan on doing this with kids, but I'll take them to my dentist. So why not take them to your dentist?

We always went to our family Dentist, he is close by and we like his practice. When DS had cavities, he has very soft enamel, our Dentist sent us to a Pediatric Dentist for fillings. DS is now at an age where our regular Dentist can handle everything.

I am not certain why people need the specialist dentist but that is me.

Why? Our kids are 15/17 and still go to their pediatric dentist. They don't mind going, aren't afraid, etc. Why would you change this at age 7?!?!

Child is now 7 years old and I'd like to find a new dentist (non-pediatric) in the Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Potomac area. Please recommend yours.
