Westchester -- I've heard good things about Ardsley, Tarrytown and Briarcliff Manor but I think your best plan would be to talk to parents who head special ed groups (there must be some-- just google Westchester, Rockland, and Jersey) and talk to them to see what kind of services are available, how responsive schools are to parental concerns and how generous schools tend to write IEPs. In a place like Westchester, the school districts can be very small (one elementary/ middle and high school) and even though a district is 'terrific,' they might not be able to accommodate your child.

Talking about the PATH train and plenty on parks in NJ for your kids. Newport, Hoboken have at least some safe spaces to move around

Jersey city maybe? Also depends on which part of manhattan you are heading but getting from NJ to NY via train is the best way these days.

DS has Down Syndrome, another DS has dyslexia and DD has ADHD. They are 8, 6 and 4 respectively. I will be working in Manhattan.
