The guide opened a “show” room in the healthy living community and it was immediately clear someone had partied hard in there the night before. Used condoms, beer bottles, etc. She slammed the door and turned bright red while texting like crazy. A few minutes later, the RD came to show us another room. He owned the door and the first thing we saw was a huge marijuana leaf poster.

There is geometry beyond the freshman class.

Hearing that they had a 'Squirrel watchers watchers club'. Many tours touted their 'Squirrel Watchers" club, but only one had the Squirrel watchers watchers club.

Also the guide asked the prospective students what subject they liked best and one very vineyard vines wearing kid said geometry which we thought was super weird since that’s a freshman class and was a rising senior.

8 am tour of Tulane during Mardi Gras and there was a couch of 4 wasted guys sitting outside a dorm. One screams out to my mom, “hey mom, she’s coming here!” My mom grabs my arm dragging me off screaming back, “oh no she’s not!”

We were touring Northwestern and when we reached the sandy lakefront area, the tour guide stopped to give her talking point about the "400 clubs on campus and if there isn't a club for what you are interested in, you can always start one." A little brother (maybe 4 or 5 years old) raised his hand and asked if there was a sandcastle club. It was adorable. The tour guide said there wasn't one, but he could certainly start one. It's my favorite moment from all our tours.

A mom asked - completely seriously- what time is curfew in the packed auditorium before the tour. She was not from the US - the tour guides were very professional with their response while a few in the audience were snickering.

JMU campus tour with DD. Small group, didn’t ask many questions, kind and patient tour guide. Tour ends and Mom and Dad press the tour guide for what really happens on weekends; “is the library open? How about the laundry facilities in the dorms? What recreational activities are available on campus?” Almost press conference-style. Their DD was mortified.

Another Mom stayed and asked why she wouldn’t be on the campus alert text system. Why would this only be for students? How could she subscribe?

we were on a Friday morning tour and a young lady walked by all done up from the night before and a dad in the tour group yelled out "thanks for last night!"

Former female campus tour guide. Funniest thing that happened maybe on my second tour was that two of my guy friends leaned out a dorm window, screamed my name and reminded me that “Happy Hour Tonight! Penny Beers! 4-8!”

This was the early 90s. I just smiled and waved back. No horrified parents. Taught me to think on my feet (literally) and to just remain calm. I could have been very embarrassed but chose to laugh.

Well, at my college there was a frat full of guys that was famous for yelling “bring us your virgins” out the window to tours. They were later banned for that and many other misogynistic activities.

I think some of the very hyped up, ultra exuberance from the college guides. It was funny, cute, a little embarrassing and all in good fun at the same time. They definitely made the visits memorable.

It may be funny now, but I was mortified at the time.

My father, when we were touring a dorm, asked the guide if a burn mark on the rug came from "one of those marijuana cigarettes."
