I'm diagnosed with DOR. For my first round of IVF the RE used BCP, but it oversuppressed me and we had to cancel the cycle due to low estrogen levels. Then we tried the antagonist protocol without any suppression (so no BCP or Lupron). I at least had a couple of follicles growing, and my estrogen was rising. That cycle wasn't successful due to no fertilization, but that's another story.

Did you ask?
In IVF you have to be your own advocate. If something doesn’t make sense, ask. It’s a lot of money and you need to feel confident about the protocol you’re getting. If you aren’t, and the cycle isn’t successful you’ll be even more upset. Believe me, I’ve been there and it’s very frustrating.

I did this, OP and started on Day 2 or 3 of my regular cycle with stim meds. (I cannot exactly remember.) Anyway - I had very few follicles and few eggs retreived but have a two year old now. I was over 40 and some docs don't do any suppression for our age range. Good luck to you!

What explanation did your dr offer when you asked?

i've done many antagonist protocols with estrogen priming. No BCP or lupron, but estogen at the end of the cycle before the stim cycle.

has anyone had success doing this protocol for IVF? so strange that I wouldn’t do either BCP or Lupron but my doctor said we will go straight into stimulation. Has anyone had a BFP with this approach?
