We used to pay around $120 during contract for a bundle of the 100MB per second speed internet, family cable package (no premium movie channels or HBO type), and a landline (we don't even own a phone to set up a landline).
Anyway, after being out of contract, we've been paying a high $175. I noticed internet has been slow off and on. I could be patient with slow speed, but then internet service stopped in the middle of my work. First few times, I got disconnected from VPN and reconnected. Ok, fine. But then I got totally disconnected. Message that there was no internet. It was so utterly frustrating calling FIOS multiple times to get this resolved that it's tipped me over the edge to change internet providers.
Question:
Cox internet provides 1GB download speed but it seems upload speed is only 35 Mbps v. my current FIOS 100Mbps upload and download. If I do not upload any videos. But I do email or text pictures of my kids almost daily, is that uploading? If that is uploading, is Cox's 35 Mbps speed good enough to support that?
Have people been generally ok with Cox internet for this DMV area? If it matters, I live in Vienna, VA.
Cox right now has internet the 1GB at $65 for two years. I think our family can move to watching Netflix, Amazon Prime. I also bought a Roku device many years ago that we could use. Or buy something else to cut the cable cord.
Anyway, go ahead with the switch? Anything else to consider before I make the switch?
There. Sorry about having forgotten to delete the bottom draft sentences before hitting Submit.
