Here is a side-by-side comparison of YouthSoccereRankings to GotSoccer (sorted by numerical rank as reported by each site; these are not **my** rankings):

I'm sure there are a few cases where GotSoccer gets way out of whack. Here are a few I noticed (using supporting data on the other tabs):
Braddock Road Elite Academy got nearly all of their 3300-ish points from a single tournament. Are they a top-20 DMV team? Possibly, … but one tournament shouldn't put them there.
SYC is restacking/renaming their 2008 teams, perhaps to keep GS points. (The top SYC 2008 team was LMVSC Red just a month ago.) The original SYC Blue is now Orange. Orange is now White.
Aside from McLean Green (which has been playing a year up at U12 this spring), the "top" NCSL team … per GotSoccer … is MSI Green (27th overall by GS). MSI Green plays in NCSL Division 2. This team is 67th overall by YSR.

Gotsoccer is only tournament results. it does show who wins more tournaments but other than that it does not accurately portray the overall level of a team.

That ranking measures where you are based on the ranking of your competition and how you do against that competition. That is why on the girls side, you see more ECNL/DA teams in the national rankings.
Totally agree. I think Youthsoccer is the best system.
I have checked and over 50+ games, our team has a winning record (90%?) against lower ranked teams and a losing record (33%?) against those ranked above us.
It isn't perfect. But when used judiciously, it is a good tool.

Ok. PremierSC out of Maryland in the 05 group won the second flight at the OBGC. They beat Vienna, SAC (second team) and FC Frederick. Then they beat West Virginia FC. Total points: 1135. These points, by themselves, would get them into the top 25 in VA. Add league games and a top 10 ranking is almost a given. Now play a second and third tournament like this and you may have a top 5 team in the state that may have played teams that are average at best to get the ranking.
ECNL and DA games and standings don't count for points, yet CCL 10th place finish gets you points. GotSoccer is indicative of very little other than a commitment to enter leagues and tournaments to accumulate these points.
