OP this seems like too much trouble especially if you don't have kids. If you're determined to date this guy the boundary conversation should happen before he takes her shopping for clothes. If he doesn't want you to come take that as a bad sign.

People have different boundaries. It's a question of whether you and your boyfriend are comfortable with it and feel able to assert yourselves.

It's great that they are friendly. If he thinks it will be awkward, he should be able to say no thank you and that's that. If he wants to do it, but you don't want him to, then that's a different problem (between you two, and not really related to the ex). It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it, just you two.

Not okay. They had and apparently still have chemistry. The kid pics fine, the shopping steps over any conceivable boundary line for me.

I would never date anyone with a baby mama, but yes, sounds like they are dating.

If you were in a relationship with a man who had a baby mama and up until she ended her relationship with her other kids father, your boyfriend and her only spoke in regards to the kid but are now more friendly. No big deal... Even though its like daily conversations, sometimes sharing pics of their shared child.

However, friendly to the point that she asked him to buy her clothes with her money (bc he has good taste) and he suggested they go shopping, to which she suggested you come along... which he thinks will be awkward...

Is this weird? navigating a relationship when someone else has a kid can be hard enough, but does this push boundaries of some kind?
