We just got our 11 year old one and set up a new Apple ID for her. It's linked to our family account, so she has access to our Apple music and any app that we've already purchased. Apple seems to know that iPods are really popular with kids so the setup walked me right through how to link them together. I can't remember exactly how it worked but it was painless. The parental controls are great also -- there's an approval process for ordering new apps, etc.

I’m getting DS 8 an iPod Touch 6th generation so he can listen to music (my Spotify account) and listen to audiobooks (Audible, I guess?). Should I set it up using my Apple ID or should I create one for him (using my email address of course). I’m just trying to think this through before I start the setup process. Any tips or suggestions with what has worked best for you?
