Brentwood and Westwood are far better for the money.

+1. Pacific Palisades is indeed “soulless”.

I have a friend who lived there for a few years. She LOVED it and would go back in a second. It is very expensive though, but I’m sure you know that.

OP, are you still looking for a home? Sugar will sell his to you. It’s lovely. https://www.realtor.com/news/celebrity-real-estate/sugar-ray-leonard-selling-in-pacific-palisades/

We have dear friends who moved to the Palisades about two years ago, and they have three small children. They are SO happy there. It sounds super family-oriented lovely.

I don't think you know the Palisades at all, you're just writing a BS post because you're bored.

DP here who has lived in West LA for 25 years. The Palisades isn’t diverse but if that doesn’t bother you, it’s a great place to live.

Is actual diversity on the top of the list of the OP? Did she mention anything about that in her post or are you just imposing your own agenda. West. LA - you probably mean West Hollywood, which would completely make sense given your attitude.

Sorry to disappoint, but not West Hollywood. You must live in PP to take such offense. Relax.

I've been in LA for a few years now (moved from the DC area). What they say about traffic is true. It's bad. You just learn not to go to certain areas at certain times of the day. When you have to, you just brace yourself. I now regularly drive 50 minutes after school (one way) to take DD to her activity. Kind of unthinkable in the DC area, but here, you just do it.

PP is lovely - you've hit on the right place for schools, community and cleanness and safety. Go for it.

We lived in Santa Monica for many years and often went to PP for the day to get a more peaceful, village like vibe.

Uhh yea, the Palisades are gorgeous. Are you rich? Then you'll be fine. Traffic is bad but not that terrible if you plan ahead.

Post 06/20/2019 22:43     Subject: Moving to the Pacific Palisades?

My husband and I are thinking of moving to LA and right now the Pacific Palisades is at the top of our list. The homes are gorgeous, it's right near the beach, there is a great "small town" vibe (although I wonder how much that has changed due to the new downtown area), and it just seems like a really relaxed and gorgeous place to live and raise kids. I know it is a bit out of the way but thankfully my husband and I can both work from home and don't really have to worry about a commute.

A few questions (as someone who has only ever lived in cities in the east coast) - if you know about the area, what do you think of it? Is it a good place to raise children? Also, is the traffic really as terrible and soul sucking as everyone says? I know there are a lot of cool things to do and museums for the whole family but if it takes an hour to get anywhere, would we actually go? I know that's the price to pay to live near the beach but we want to be able to take advantage of the city.

Any and all advice and suggestions are welcome!
