You’re not actually bringing the nanny to the picnic (that would be weird!) You’re having the nanny care for your kids while you work (event preparations for a work event is WORK.)

The nanny would be doing what she does everyday- caring for your kids while you WORK.

Just ask her if she'd like to come!

Normally you are AT work and she's watching your kids -in this instance, you are AT work and your kids are invited - the zoo is insane and so crowded and hot - I might not walk around for an hour with a 2and 4 year old unless they are in strollers. . . .I like man on man for the zoo . .. if you feel uncomfortable, practice the phrase "my husband is out of town" .. . .

You sound completely disconnected from your children. I hope Bethesda is everything you expect them to remember when they are grown.

It’s reasonable op. If you need to organize anything for the work event, there is no way you can do it with 2 and 4 year old in tow.

The picnic will be at the National Zoo, and DH can't go. Kids are 2 and 4. The event starts at 11AM-- I was thinking of having our nanny come with us from 9-11. I figure we can all walk around the zoo from 9-10, then the nanny can keep them from 10-11 while I deal with some logistical things related to the event. Once the event actually starts, she will be free to go (she will be leaving for a trip later that day, so I'd like to let her go early). I would have to send her back to my house in a taxi or an Uber.

Does this seem ridiculous or reasonable? Part of me wants to just give her the day off, but I also don't want to be all stressed out because my kids are acting wild while I'm trying to "work".
