If she is a great writer - there are a lot of careers in tech fields. We need writers to explain the products, storyboards, manuals, etc even medical manuals. So use her strengths. Don’t push her into accounting.

I've met a lot of SLP majors who were outgoing and bubble by also know one who was quite shy but is doing great in that career, working with kids. Speech pathologists also work with the elderly with not just speech but also swallowing disorders--very important work that saves lives.

Could she handle an accounting major? Maybe accounting plus something people or medically oriented, with a career in elder care administration in mind? Elder care administration might not pay well, but it will be necessary.

He double majored in Chemistry and Music, and minored in Spanish. He went to med school and is a doctor.

But he was also astute enough to realize shyness doesn't serve you well as an adult and pushed himself to be more outgoing.

Isn't Speech Path a masters? And a pp mentioned Psych. Not much you can do with an undergraduate degree in psych. How old is your DD? Perhaps she can shadow or volunteer with different professionals this summer.

I dunno, I grew up when there was no such thing as helicopter parents, my parents wouldn't have known what to suggest and I had no clue, and just might be DD is not sure what possibilities make sense to her.

What do high schools provide these days for career exploration? or college counseling/career offices if she is in college and not sure what she wants to do? Shy, sensitive people often do very well one on one.

If she isn’t sure. Have her apply undecided and work with the career center on campus to find a major and career that suit her. This needs to be entirely something that she owns.
