My son did some babysitting when he was 16-17 years old. It never occurred to me that people wouldn’t be comfortable with that. How odd.

I was a male babysitter and everything worked out fine

Sadly no wives seduced me either

I wanted a manny—I wanted someone who would be strong enough to also walk our large, energetic dog with baby in carrier. Never came to fruition, although we did have a male babysitter a few times when she was a toddler. He was a law student studying to take the bar, and liked kids. Also, my husband loves kids and used to babysit as a teen; now is a pediatrician. So I think it’s case by case, but if the guy had strong references I wouldn’t rule it out.

We’ve done it and would again, but I have to admit the girls have been more reliable and responsive, not sure if that’s coincidence.

Trust, your male nanny wants your child, not your wife

I’m extremely selective about babysitters, and would screen a male the same I would a female. tbh I probably wouldn’t consistently use a male babysitter, but if it were a neighborhood kid or someone well-known I would use him in a pinch.

Only if he were ugly. Can't have DW looking at another man.

My DD is 7. She can shower herself and use the bathroom herself. She knows the rules as far as privacy when changing etc.
Yes, I would hire a male sitter if I knew him, like knew the family or knew from from the neighborhood /recommended by somone/ knew from Church.
I would prob not hire a stranger whether male or female.

Our nanny is male. We poured through resumes, did screening calls, and then interviewed a few. He was the best fit. Several years in, we're still happy with our choice.

Just curious-What are your thoughts on male babysitters? Would this be an option for your family?
