Do most colleges call your name if you aren't there? I know that when I graduated from a midsized school, you walked across the stage and handed a card to the person calling names and they read it. If you weren't there, unless you made prior arrangements, they wouldn't call your name.

I'm just posting this because you wouldn't want to set her up to "hear her name", if it's not going to happen.

Can a favorite professor/counselor/friend group come and give her her diploma with her cap on and pomp and circumstance playing followed by a party (not sure if food is not an option but if it is...) whenever she is up to it.

My point is, it doesn't have to be a big deal to miss this. The point of college is the education and the diploma, not some boring ceremony you sit through in the heat.

My point is, it doesn't have to be a big deal to miss this. The point of college is the education and the diploma, not some boring ceremony you sit through in the heat.

It looks like my daughter will not be able to walk in her college graduation on Friday. She is in the hospital due to having recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease and complications from surgery Has anyone been in this situation, and how should we make it special for her?
