Lab Rescue has a good reputation, and they sometimes get in lab puppies. Doesn't hurt to check. Puppies are so.much.work. Yes they are cute, but be ready.

Who is dog breeding not a business for?

Do a google search on the types of questions you should ask. In fact, many really reputable breeders have those sorts of questions on their own sites. They care deeply about their breeds and want the companion dogs to go to good homes. Here's the list on the site of the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac. https://lrcp.com/labradors/puppy-checklist/

Try Gainesfield Labradors. Our lab is sired by one of their boys. I wouldn't recommend our breeder. She breeds amazing animals but is crazy.

Honestly you can sell these people anything if you call it a "rescue."

Go to a veterinarians office and ask them. They see all sorts of dogs and they know which ones are healthy.

The breeder that I ultimately went to was from a recommendation from another breeder. You will find people who love their dogs.

Thanks.

Surprised by the weird comments from others. The reason I was asking for recommendations was to weed out the "puppy mills" and find someone good, based on others experiences. We have certainly adopted rescue dogs in the past, but we really love this particular breed.

So do I. But I'd never buy one. I'd find one to rescue.

They show up on every thread because silence means complicity.

We are looking for a Labrador Retriever puppy. Can anyone recommend their breeder? Preferably nearby, such as in VA, MD, PA or DE.
