Both articles are more about judicial issues than religion or religious beliefs.

In the first case, the better procedure would have been to appoint a guardian ad litem to independently advocate for the child's interests.

In the second case, the judge appears to be an appalling idiot. If anything, a person who is both parent and in a position of at least nominal public trust should be held to a higher, not lower, standard.
