I know many athletes say they started young but how do you start to nurture skills without predetermining the child’s sport or is it really trial and error and whatever they are good at?

I will preface with I’m not athletic at all so I don’t really know much about sports and toddlers.

DP You didn't do anything to encourage this so I would be careful that you don't kill the joy he is having. Just let him play at home with his brothers. He is a baby why would you rush it?

That is one big baby! Clearly he will have a lot of power to kick the ball. How far are we talking? 10 feet, 20 feet, 100m?

Why aren't you moving to Netherlands already?! For Ajax soccer academy, of course.

Get a little soccer ball and a goal. The next three years, let him keep practicing kicking the ball into a net. It is better to have him play barefoot so he gets the feel of the ball. Put down a pillow and so he has to dribble around he pillow. He needs to just keep playing, playing, playing.

Op here. 11 months this week. Early walker + 33lbs wearing size 2-4T so he’s a big boy. Largest of his siblings.

Are you friends with the poster from a few weeks ago asking if she should join a pool so that her now one year old could be on a swim team in 7 years?

Surprised at the ease my 10 month old can kick, toss and roll his older brothers soccer balls compared to when the older boys could do so with ease.
