My wife is due this week. We vacated our apartment at the end of January and bounced around Airbnbs for over two months while we closed on our house and even rented back to the prior owners for a month. I think she was 7 months when we finally moved in.

As someone moving with a one year old, I recommend moving during labor and it would be easier than a kid lol

I've moved cross country (coast to coast) at 39 weeks. I've also purchased and moved into a new home 4 weeks before my due date. It's always way easier to move before baby arrives.

I moved a month before my first was born (6 weeks before due date). It was fine. We hired hourly movers through Uhaul to help with loading and unloading the truck, much cheaper than full service.

I'm pregnant with #2 now, due around Halloween, and I dont want to move past Labor Day. But my main concern is #1 having enough time to adjust to a new day care, new setting, etc before the baby bomb exploded into his life (and I'm afraid 2 months won't be enough but what can you do?)

We moved 2 months before and it was also a week before 9/11. DH was overseas then and I was home with our 2 yo. Wasn’t sure when he’d get back to US. Overall it was ok.

Two weeks before due date. Assuming I'm not doing anything except directing where stuff goes. Much much easier than with baby.

We moved when I was 30’weeka with our first, and my MIL died 4 weeks prior very suddenly on the day our contract was accepted. Shit show. But we all lived.

We moved a week after having the baby, long distance. It was crazy looking back but turned out fine.

Anytime before the birth.

The couple who sold their home to us literally went into labor during our closing (they closed in their new home at the same time). They apparently had everything in storage for a couple days and then actually moved in to their new house a week after the birth. Can’t imagine!

I'd do as late as 37 weeks assuming the place is turnkey and you could quickly set up the nursery furniture

I’ve moved three times during pregnancies. Once a month before my due date, once two months before, and once four months before. Also, a lot of living in temporary housing waiting for out house to be ready and then for our household goods to be transported out of storage. We’re a military family, so it comes with the territory.

You can do it, OP. Just take a lot of rests and be easy on yourself. It will all get unpacked eventually, there is no need to rush anything.

My third trimester just began and I'm due around Labor Day. We have been looking to move for months but haven't found a new home that meets our needs because our options are limited to a particular area due to our older child's school and budget concerns. The window to move is closing, but I am willing to push forward if we find the right place in the next few weeks. I believe it would be easier to relocate while the baby's still in utero, though I anticipate it could also be stressful.

If you've been in a similar situation, did you make it happen before delivery or did you wait? How close did you cut it if you were willing to take the risk?
