No it has some strong teams(clubs) and after which there is a big drop off ...think McLean, Arlington and Loudoun(Richmond Strikers but they should not be in a league with Nova teams). The other clubs just are not at that level. Those big club only get tested by playing themselves.

Interesting. I was on the board of a club when we switched from NCSL to CCL, although I haven't been involved in a while. The talk at the time was that NCSL was an outdated model, that CCL was the wave of the future.

What i was struck by was that CCL had a lot of policies that imposed significant costs upon the club without really benefiting the players.

Just say what clubs and under or over u13. Girls CCL and CCL2 are not really competitive. Most clubs team preform the same across the age groups with little movement up or down depending on the talent- ie a bottom team may move up to middle if they have a few good girls but you will never beat the top clubs.

The larger clubs dominate and after u13 these clubs pull their top team to different leagues. Even after the top teams leave its not competitive. My kid plays in CCl2 under u13. The team had about a 10 to 1 goal differential and lost one game that the other teams coach said he was surprised to win. The league is broken. Hopefully a few big clubs leave and end this. Merge it with NCSL.

Eh- I would say on the boys side it is 50/50–half the teams offer decent competition in ccl2 (Arlington, McLean, Herndon, Potomac, Loundoun, LMVS etc). Larger clubs who have a strong B team are generally the ones that are competitive. Smaller clubs less so...

Competition isn't that good in CCL2, clubs are either good or bad most of the time. McLean's B team is in CCL2 because they have their top team in ECNL. Herndon has their A team in CCL1 because they don't have anything higher. Overall those teams are probably the same, and its too bad they don't play against one another.

At U9 and U10, there is only CCL (no CCL2) - but a CCL club's B team is the equivalent of CCL 2 which starts at U11.

I pretty much agree with you that CCL2 is really bad for strong B teams like Arlington, but the other teams in CCL2 are not as strong, so it is more balanced from that perspective.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but NCSL for U9 and U10 is not ranked, so it is as much of a crap-shoot of having a competitive game or a blow-out at the younger ages. Once they start moving teams to real divisions at U1, NCSL would be much better for strong CCL2 teams.

Weren't clubs originally required to enter two teams in CCL, one in CCL1 and the other CCL2? Obviously that is no longer the case and I wonder if it is because CCL2 was so imbalanced? Arlington's second team will always be strong but some smaller club with a strong first team won't necessarily have a good second team.

This is a true statement, some clubs that join are required to be test out in CCL2 before getting full admission into CCL.
