Speaking of the Arlington Mill affordable housing complex and the success of the Arlington Committee of 100 to force the ghetto-ization of Columbia Pike, west of Four Mile Run, Arlington needs Dehghani-Tafti. Without her lenient policies, Arlington would need more jails cells for the expanding criminal population. I am voting for her because the costs of enforcement would shift the budget from parks and schools to jails.

I think I’m voting Tafti, because I agree with her positions. However, this kind of trash is making it harder for me to do that. Go back to b****ing on the neighborhood listserv that Sweetgreen should be compelled to locate in the Arlington Mill housing complex.

I wrote out my reasons for supporting Parisa and not Stamos. But for me, it came down to I think overall the criminal justice system everywhere needs to change - change how we treat everyone who enters it. Arlington is a safe community, it does not have a high amount of overall crime (and this is not a knock on Stamos, but that isn't due to her policies). But I find that Stamos and her supporters see that as reason to do less. But i think it should be the other way - Arlington should be leading the way. But when i see reports on the numbers of people prosecuted for marijuana and drug possession, the overwhelming number of black people who are prosecuted in Arlington especially for non violent offenses, Stamos' discovery process, and Stamos' seemingly refusal to even look for ways to address those issues, I find it all deeply troubling. That article the other day about the way Stamos argued so vehemently to detain a child for over a month who simply had mouthed off to a police officer? I wonder how many more instances there are like that. Tafti has received a lot of money, but it is also money given to pursue criminal justice reform - stop prosecuting drug possession offenses, end cash bail, address racial disparities - I think Arlington should be doing all of those things. I think PArisa will pursue that agenda and Stamos on nearly all those issues is hostile to say the least.

Seriously, if Dehghani-Tafti wins, Arlington will turn into Ward 8.5.

One more thought. Isn’t how Stamos treats children and the discovery process a bigger turn off?
