Yeah, that’s a good reason to stay home and pull down the shades. There is way worse nudity on tv , along with gross violence that you won’t see at the parade.
The parade is a very happy event.

I’m not gay and I’ve actually marched in the parade with a friend and her lgbtq friendly company or just gone to the parade and it’s very fun each time.

Its fun. Many rainbow beads as well as candies thrown out. Rainbow floats from many major companies and places like the humane society.
Many families go.
The only mature content I have seen is the ‘assess chaps’ float. Oh well.
I’m not gay and I’ve actually marched in the parade with a friend and her lgbtq friendly company or just gone to the parade and it’s very fun each time.

I honestly never saw much of sadomaso and leather community show off at the beach..

When I was a child sometimes my parents would bring me along in rallies. I have mixed feeling about it. For them was a public political stand or maybe a ‘teaching moment’ about their own values. As a young child I would have preferred much more spending a day together at the park having a picnic. There will be plenty of other chances to share your own values with them in an age appropriate way.

At 2 and 5 I will honestly skip the Pride Parade and Festival. Hot, crowded, some mature content and even pretty boring for kids so young.

I marched with my preschooler in the Pride parade with our church. I wouldn't plan on staying the whole time, but I would think it would be fun. Some of the floats have music or people dancing (occasionally with relatively skimpy costumes, but I've never seen anything indecent, and most floats are pretty tame), some toss toys or candy, and everyone is friendly.

Oh, one more thing, meant to add that the technical family watch station is at Stead Park, so if the kids are bored with the parade, they can go play on the playground.

I vote parade. It is more fun and festive, the festival is just walking around and probably boring for kids. We took our son last year and he was too young to really enjoy too much (he was 1.5) but this year I think he will like it! We did the Funk Parade a few weeks ago and he loved watching the bands and other participants, and Pride is even more elaborate than Funk Parade. Downside is that it is more crowded and often HOT.

Anyone been to the Pride Parade or Festival with young kids (2,5)? Is either one better for kids? The Festival is specifically billed as "family friendly." I realize that there will be mature content at both events, but is either one easier to manage or more fun for kids? Is the Festival notably more family friendly? TIA
