No, we don’t give year end gifts. I write a nice card.

No. Why would they get an end of the year gift? That makes no logical sense. I put money into the cash collection for Xmas and also donate to make their teacher appreciation lunch happen (just lunch on one day, I can’t believe some schools do this the entire week).

Do you all give these gifts in addition to a class fund for the teachers? Our room parents collect money for a joint class gift....wondering whether to do something in addition to this. We did give holiday gift cards to amazon.

My PK daughter seriously wanted to give her teachers a coffee mug... We opted instead for a nice thank you note that she signed and enclosed a $20 Starbucks card. Throughout the school year, our (private school) teachers all receive $600+ in parent-donated gifts from the parent association (most of it is cash w/ a couple trinkets).

Of course it’s enough, if that’s what you choose to give. A teacher didn’t start this thread.

I'm a teacher and sadly my child is *that* kid who makes you rethink the profession. I give $100. On the flip side, I get the standard $10-20 gift cards.

Well, just because that’s what happened at your school doesn’t mean that’s every teacher?

I didn't. Instead I do teacher appreciation and christmas gift cards. I think that's enough.

Gift cards are great. I think general range is $20-$100.

End of year is really the only gift we do, because it's a culmination of the whole year, and we want to show our appreciation. We do a gift card and email the principal with specific examples of why the teacher was good. The school has a limit of $20, I think, but if the teacher was exceptional, I go above that limit. One year, we did $50, because the teacher was just really great. If they deserve it, they deserve it.
