Yup. I'm just getting enough exp. on my resume then gtfo. Can telework these days nearly 100% of the time and earn big city salaries. There are so many areas of the country with nicer homes and better QOL for a fraction of the price. I refuse to pay a $250,000 premium on a home that someone spent 2-3 months flipping. Not only does it encourage inflationary pressures on the market, so much work is superficial surface layer junk fixes you're forced to pay a premium for. And these leeches soak up all affordable housing left because they pay all cash and/,or parts of investment groups trying to make a quick buck. Normal people are screwed out. I can't wait to leave.

This is exaggerated a bit. Under $600k I agree.....super tough to find a decent house. Once you start getting over $600-800k they are OK. It's so expensive in this area.

This is the burbs though. If you want in the city forget it.

This!!!

Its not worth it "just to buy something". I'd rather rent than resent my house.

One of us works in Arlington and the other in Herndon. We've been looking in Alexandria, Falls Church, and South Arlington for a townhome. Completely priced out of DC.

sorry, nice homes cost $$$$$$$ here. mine is not for sale, but if it was it would be for over $900k. nice area with good schools (CCDC), but 3bd and only 1.5 bath. kitchen and bathrooms are from many decades ago, the full bathroom is maybe 5ft X 8 or 9 max. homes with 4bd and at least 2bth and in good shape are from 1.2M up.

This is why we cannot move. We wouldn't even get much of an upgrade in housing if we moved further out. Plus, we would have bad commutes.

I would have to say negative on this one. Your $$ will get you a much better house further out. Trust me. We did it and so have thousands of others.

I think this is what is causing the lack of inventory. No one has anywhere to go.

Yes, this area is expensive (cheaper than others, but more expensive than most of the US). This is not news. And it's getting worse.

Nothing good is on sale. Yuck.

This applies to the entire area.
