McLean is running a summer box lax league.

12:37 - I get that the rec season is basically over. I assume the timing is similar to that of soccer. We're looking for things we can do over the summer or stuff happening in the fall/spring so we can hit the ground running.

Waivers at the age level that seems to be the case here are not uncommon. We have had several waivers at the K2 and 3/4 level and one or two at higher levels over the years I’ve coached in NVYLL. I’d be happy for my kid to play in any of the clubs available to Arlington kids.

This is good advice but unfortunately, the Rec season is almost over. Most Clubs offer Summer clinics and camp suggestions so check their web pages. Definitely focus on building her stick skills and having fun.

Rec league is the way to go. There will be a lot of girls who are new to the game. The fact that she has played other sports will help her because she will have some sort of field sense. If you don't have them already you might want to get a couple of sticks and play catch in the back yard together to help her with her catching and throwing so she is ready for next year.

NVYLL is based on which public high school you would attend based on residence. Some clubs overlap/share schools. If you are zoned to Wash-Lee, for example, you can choose Arlington or Falls Church Clubs and, for Yorktown, you can choose Arlington, McLean or Falls Church. Wakefield is locked into Arlington. Also, if your daughter has friends who play for a different club, you may be able to join that club with a waiver from your home club(s).

Just have her join any local rec team. My DD (age 8) just finished her first season of rec and she loved it.

In Northern Virginia, Rec lacrosse all falls within the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League. Local communities have clubs that field teams in the league. You are limited to the club or clubs that cover your neighborhood.

Hi everyone. My daughter has been playing soccer since kindergarten. She's pretty good (plays on two teams) and has good general conditioning/endurance but would like to start considering some other sports.

She's doing a camp this summer that offers lacrosse, but she'd also like to consider trying out for a beginner level team, or taking a clinic somewhere.

We're in Arlington. Any recommendations?
