We hosted a bbq last night with older teens. We only have an older gaming system. My kids were just never into it enough to upgrade. One of our visitors went back to his house to get something better. Moms computer is not much a treat either. The kids seem to have a really fun evening. I had no problem with it. You can still set limits for your kid if you want..only weekends or whatever.

Good lord, OP. Get a gaming system with decent TV already.

To clarify 8 is limit whatever boy/hike combo. I have to be home if anyone other than two best friends are there, on the sex thing, not saying I allow it or any hooking up, but unless I’m going to watch them constantly they likely can get away with that in basement , I do require door to be open

We have pool, hot tub, two gaming systems, separate fridge in basement with drinks and pantry with snacks, we have ping pong, a work out room, virtual reality, outdoor fireplace, a good tv hang out room, lax about what music they play as long as I’m not trying to go to bed, I let them order in, we have cameras too but not insidewhich I find creepy. My son is 16. Is it possible someone has had sex here - sure. Drinking I’m really strict about and if youv’e been drinking I will likely know. I enforce a you have to greet me when come in and say goodbye before you leave, I limit numbers - most is 8, whatever combo with boys. Sleepovers ok but have to sleep on my level. I find vaping and pot a lot harder to patrol. They vape pot now mostly if living at home.

Xbox, food, leave them alone, ping pong or similar, basketball hope, lacrosse set , that smashball or whatever it’s called all the boys are playing

We have 2 gaming systems in the basement with 2 TVs. A pool table, ping pong, hot tub, trampoline, and a fridge full of drinks and snacks. Kids are at my house all the time and I prefer it that way. Were strict about no drinking or smoking and are not cool with it at all. We have cameras in the basement and pointed outside.

Not a chance the kids are going to go to your house instead to play Monopoly or to play on mommy's computer

DS got an Xbox for his 14th birthday. It was literally a game changer in terms of inviting friends over. He only had sports games on it.

I'd get a gaming system.

I really don't know but our house is definitely not as exciting as other kids.

Sorry, but considering the way kids now socialize these days, nobody is going to want to be at your house. Nothing wrong with that. This is just a result of your house not being teen friendly.

Good food, and scarce mom.

We have no gaming system and no tv but kids still come over to hang. I always have food around - I think that is enough when they are 12 and starving all the time.

Make sure none of the water guns are black, or look real.

When DS was 13 I bought a bunch of neon-colored water guns, dumped the bag in his lap when some friends were over, and told them "Go outside."

They ran around playing and having water fights all summer.

DS is 13. We have basketball hoop outside but we do not have a gaming system but plenty of boardgames. When friends are over I allow them to use my computer to play games against each other.
