So he thinks it’s ok to wake up people - and their sleeping kids - because the neighborhood wanted to keep their children safe by having DC install traffic calming?

OP, if you live in DC, surely you know that people actually live in the city and the streets you are referring to are in residential neighborhoods, just like they have in the suburbs. If you live in suburbs, now you know that too. I know it's hard for suburbanites to believe, but it's true.

Yes, avoid them by sticking to the main arteries rather than speeding through a neighborhood. People only request them when inconsiderate drivers cannot drive safely down the street.

If you do that frequently at night sometime someone going to take a swing at your car with a baseball bat, or worse.
