Subject: Intermittent Fasting with Bulletproof Coffee?
The guy who invented BP coffee is basically a scam artist; people who worked for him have said he makes sh!t up and posts random studies to make it look like his claims are backed up by science. I’ve tried BP coffee, it’s disgusting and did nothing for me.

It's a great idea for those who cannot IF.
I cannot IF. I am starving and cannot work and just lay in bed.
You are lucky that you can IF everyday without getting tired.

It isn't IF if she has it in the morning and doesn't count it. It does make sense to drink your fat if you are climbing and living in Tibet. However, most of us aren't surviving extreme cold temperatures that would warrant drinking fat. I don't see how for average DMV person plain black coffee isn't a better option? Calories, right? Reduce them.

Sorry all - should have specified... this would be while doing Keto. So have been thinking about using the coffee as my breakfast instead of fasting, but Intermittent fasting has helped me so I am weary of doing something that could make me stalk or gain weight.

Yes, MCT oil boosts ketones. It doesn't cause ketosis, although some people say it does. Ketones often mean ketosis, but not always. Sometimes they just mean ketones.

You are correct it would break the fast. The goal of black coffee is 0 cal and the goal of bulletproof coffee is to have fats in your coffee and fats have calories.

I also don’t understand how it can be healthy.
Your friend sounds like she does Keto. You are not going to be in ketosis by doing intermittent fasting so I’m not sure what benefit boosting ketones would have.

I'm not a fan of it...but I am also not a fan of Keto. I know it can be great for some people, it's just not for me. I have to have carbs, so I carb cycle, which has been more sustainable fo rme. I drink black coffee now most mornings while IF. I am not sold on the butter and mct oil every morning in coffee. I know it doesnt spike an insulin response. I just don't know how that can be the healthiest of choices.

I would consider bulletproof coffee to be breakfast. But intermittent fasting, ketosis, fat-adapted, etc. These are all personal things, no one is grading you. Do it however you want or however it works for you.

Has anyone tried this? My friend claims it’s even better than just having black coffee (or nothing at all) because it boosts ketones and metabolism. But it has a good amount of calories so wouldn’t it break a true fast?
