It depends on the club and the level. At the U16 level, ours had winter practices and tournaments. My DS, who loves basketball and we encouraged to play on his HS team, missed a lot of this winter soccer. Of course I thought it was ridiculous anyway, practicing in December, January, and February outdoors in below freezing temps after the sun went down?

Hopefully coaches are encouraging other sports during winter/summer to reduce the risk of burnout and work out other muscle groups etc.

Our CCL team has optional futsal over the winter. My DC does a different winter sport.

CCL doesn't have anything in the winter, but your club might, so consult with the club/coach. My child's CCL team continues mandatory practices all winter and plays in a separate winter league on weekends.

Ours is a CCL team. We do futsal over the winter, but no futsal practices - sometimes the coaches will schedule a winter practice here and there if weather permits. Some kids do travel /rec basketball in the winter.

CCL is an outdoor league that starts after labor day and ends by the end of october. In the spring, it starts at the beginning of April and goes through memorial day weekend

My DC is considering a CCL team. Anyone know if the schedule goes through the winter? DC would like to continue playing winter sport. Prior team had optional winter activities and usually only met 1-2 / week which was manageable.
