The large clubs square off against each other in the same area, on the same day, etc. TDs get to observe all the games, coaches can coach multiple teams, families with more than 1 player can take their kids to the same general area.

Stupid comments about making you "trek"....it's an optional league, so don't join. NCSL has you travelling to southern MD, EDP has you up to Jersey, ECNL goes down to NC. Why no complaining about that?

NCSL has the shortest travel distance compared to CCL, EDP, ECNL & DA. So if anyone complains about NCSL travel distance, then look at ODSL, OBGC or Select Soccer instead.

ODSL is going farther and farther west to try to keep up a critical mass as more clubs put their C, D and E teams in NCSL. The Alexandria-to-Harrisonburg drive must be fun.

I got this press release, and I seriously don't understand it. I thought it just meant the NCSL champion would play the CCL champion or something ... can someone explain it?

sounds like that is exactly what it is.

In the younger years- the farthest EDP goes is Baltimore. CCL had my kid the same age going to VA Beach and Richmond.

The reason for CCL is it gives certain clubs an ability to charge more for their "elite" product, which is now often times NOT their elite product since some clubs now have DA/ECNL and can charge EVEN MORE money for that product.

From the press release:

“Participating leagues will have the opportunity for their top finishing teams from their top division to compete against the other participating league’s top finishers to earn a place in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships.”

It even has a name: League Championship.

Sounds like a new league to me.

It's League Championship, not Championship League. It sounds like a little tournament after two different and *separate* league seasons, doesn't it?

Look, I absolutely think there should be a league as I don't really understand the need or reason for CCL. So, I am expressing disappointment that this isn't it at all.

NP here. What is it exactly? Can you explain how CCL and NCSL will now be linked? I'm completely confused.

Another way to get into Regional league play which was previously reserved only for the winner of the state cup and sometimes finalist.

Wondering how it'll work since CCL is a year long calendar while NCSL is based on separate Fall and Spring schedules depending on who gets relegated/promoted. Could CCL be changing their format to two separate groups in the Premiership?

CCL desperately needs some type of promotion for strong teams.
