I am friends with a handful of my 6th grader’s friends on IG but in all instances they requested to follow me.

A few of Dds friends asked me years ago if they could friend me on Facebook. I saiid yes, but only like posts or comment congratulations on achievements. I can’t imagine me initiating the friend request, I would feel like a stalker.

I find it is the super helicopter moms that really don’t have a life outside the kids that do this.

I love that my daughter is friends with her friend's mom. I know that we look out for each other's kids. And my daughter is always friendly with her friends' parents. Totally normal, imho.

I had to tell my daughter she needs to post things she wants me to like Instagram because I refuse to do Snapchat - it makes me feel creepy.

It's weird. I also refuse to friend any of my MIL's friends. It's nosy and intrusive. Facebook is for my friends. I don't even really like relatives on there.

Its up to my DD to accept or decline such requests to follow. If my DD accepts, then I have not problem with another parent commenting.

Yes, I think that's odd.

I don’t allow my kid to accept those friend or follow requests. I don’t follow kids on SM.

Yes. I don’t care for it. Personally I don’t follow any kids who aren’t family.

I am friends with a friend’s kid or two — basically because after all the decades we are family, but no one local.

I never comment on anything more complicated than a congrats or a compliment.

I follow some of my kids' friends but don't engage in conversation with them.

Yes. I figure they're keeping an eye on my kid as a way of keeping an eye on their own kid. Still weird. And not appropriate. At 18, sure. Adults form relationships with other adults. Younger than that, asking to friend my kid is not the right thing to do.

Anyone else think is weird when the moms of your kids friend your kids on social media and comment on their posts?
