"laxers generally are full-pay, well-connected, 1 % families"

This is laughable.

Whatev. Check out the rosters of any of the top D3 schools that are very difficult to get into without a hook. Lax provides that hook for privileged, upper middle class, non-diverse kids. Getting into place like Amherst based mainly on your ability to swing a stick and throw a rock, priceless!

Are you suggesting that you need a hook if you are "non-diverse"? Or, if your parents have good-paying jobs? Those are bad things? Or, things that hurt your college admissions prospects?

This conversation has NOTHING to do with CNU. CNU is a public university that accepts kids from mostly Northern Virginia Public schools. I agree it is improving. It used to be a community college. Now it is a top choice for many NOVA kids and they will pay IN STATE tuition. Lacrosse players are a very small % of the student population. There is no comparison with other private D3 schools such as Amherst, Tufts, or even W&L. They are not going after the same students. A "hook" is not necessary to get in to CNU.

I was going to mention that aspect but I didn't want to completely embarrass him.

What is laughable is parents lack of knowledge. CNU is a public college. They are D3 and as any D3 they do not offer any athletic money. There are many other D3 schools in the same area.

All I know is that I see their coaches at all major tournaments and showcases. I think they are aggressively recruiting and building up their program.
