We love it and my kids never seem to get tired of it. We have been a member for several years with a ES and preK kids. A few rainy weekends make it worth it!

We had an acquarium pass one year, and used it three times just because I really forced us to do it. It's fun, but not worth lots of repeat visits.
On the other hand, we currently have a Maryland Science Center museum and we've been ~4 times and still haven't seen it all and the kids (ages 7 and 10) are still excited to go back.

We used to get many out of state/country visitors when kids were little, and a trip to Baltimore Aquarium was really worthwhile and saved us money if we had the family pass.

Not so much now that the kids are grown up.

The best time to go to the aquarium was Christmas time. It was absolutely empty and great to take your time.

I think it is the best aquarium in US.

I don't think I'd go often enough to make it worth it. It's almost an hour drive for us. But the one-day pass is very expensive - we went for a morning and maybe spent 2-3 hours there, and it was over $100 for 2 parents and 2 kids.

When we lived in Bethesda, we liked having a membership because it made us feel less stressed about doing frequent, short trips. We'd probably go 1-2x/month in the winter but only stay for 1-2 hours. That's about all young kids can handle, and it's hard to pay for a 1-day pass when you're only there for a couple hours.

It was worth it for one year. We prioritized going, and went 3 times, which made each visit cheaper.

Depends which side of DC you live on/in. If you live someplace like Greenbelt or. Bowie, probably worth it. If you live in Alexandria, I’d say no.

We did it one year....but it was an effort to make that 3rd trip in one year to get our money’s worth. Now, with weekend activities and birthday parties and such, I’m certain we couldn’t find 3 weekends a year to go.

We got use out of it when DD was in pre k 3 days a week. Once she started K couldn't go often enough. I had a friend with a Baltimore zoo membership so we would share with each other.

We just took our kids and I bought a membership thinking it would be worth it if we went one more time within a year. We probably will but I don’t see going very often. The kids liked it but weren’t super interested.

We love it, especially in the winter- we go at least 1x a month in the winter so worth it for our family. We make a day out of it- go to aquarium at opening time, then do late lunch somewhere like Little Italy.

If I live in Baltimore, I want to get membership for Baltimore aquarium/Baltimore zoo/Port discovery. It take 1 hour one way with no traffic to get there, and I don't think I will go there often to get my money worth.

Agree with pp. we had a membership but let it expire because my kids just weren’t interested in several visits a year. Totally worth it if your kids would want to go more. I think I enjoyed it more than they did. The train museum, on the other hand, is always a hit. We are members there now.

It’s totally safe.

We have one and won’t renew. You need to go at least 3X a year to get full value of it. By visit #3 my kid asked to never to go back. Ha!

It’s also in Baltimore so if you live in VA/DC - think about how realistic it is to get to Baltimore

Was it worth it for your family? I love the idea but did the kids get sick of it? Is it safe in the winter when it gets dark early?
