Why aren't there any shuttles that go from Braddock to the airport?

The timing couldn't be much worse. I bike, but I'm 4 months pregnant so those days are limited. And I'm returning from a detail to a new boss who will find out I need maternity leave as my first impression, so i don't think I'm in a great position to request increased telework. Shuttles and longer commutes it is....

I don't work for Metro, but the map (which shows stops for the non-express buses) strongly implies that the express buses will not stop in between Franconia and the Pentagon.

I'm actually kind of excited for this part; as long as the 395 HOV lanes aren't completely jammed, I think it will be faster than the usual slog through all of the blue stops. I feel bad for the people who don't need to go that far though.

I told my office I'll come in for big meetings, otherwise I'll see them in September.

Look into the VRE. You could take it to L'enfant and take the orange/blue/silver to Smithsonia.

Oh, and parking at Franconia will be free all summer. So that’s a bonus.

Yup, no stops. They’ve done this before, but never for so long. I haven’t had issues on the commute in. If there’s a line, it moves quickly. Different story at Pentagon on the way home. The lines can sometimes get long and there’s some confusion if they don’t have loud employees directing you to the right one because the signs are at the front of the line. You end up asking people at the back which line they’re in. I’m hoping they staff enough employees to keep it orderly.

The thing that’s going to mess it all up is summer tourists. They’re loud and confused and in your way on the metro when it’s running regularly. They’re going to lose their damn minds with this change because so many won’t plan in advance and know it’s happening.

I'm freaking out because I take the Franconia Springfield blue line to Smithsonian for work, but just saw that the blue line is closed up to pentagon until the end of summer. Anybody have recommendations on how I should get to work the next few months. I'm afraid my commute will be hours now.
