Just because you get a referral doesn’t mean that practice will take you. Many practices limit who goes to the top doctor and send new patients to the new guy. RE is also very money oriented— they love a new patient determined to spend

I wasn't married when I started with an RE this time around. No one cared. They knew my history of working with another RE in my first marriage. No one cared. For this round with my new partner, they knew we got married on the DL to help with insurance. They did actually care about this -- said, great idea, this stuff is expensive. Skipped a month between retrieval and frozen embryo travel to have the official wedding. They actually did care about this one too - they were interested to see pics of my wedding dress and thought it was funny that I had to let it out due to the IVF meds.

Settle down.

OP, from your first post I was under the distinct impression that you were looking to be offended.

The wording on your second post proves my point...I have never heard of a Christian ART discriminating against non-Christians. Even if that doctor moved to a practice that does not serve those that are not married or traditional does not mean that they are a Christian organization that only serves Christian's. Even if they only serve heterosexual, married couples, they cannot discriminate based on religion. If they did, they would be just like the Baker in the news.

Quit looking for reasons to be offended and go to any of the large, well represented clinics in our immediate area. You will find plenty of sh:t to get offended about once you start the process.

There are definitely REs and fertility clinics who refuse to work with anyone who isn't a married, heterosexual couple. Not so much in the DC area, but it can be a barrier for people in more conservative places.

Or it could be that they knew she was leaving the practice and departing doctors don’t get new patients, which is a sensible policy for a healthcare provider.

Ok, this makes no sense and you are looking for a reaction. I cannot imagine they discriminate against religion. There should not be Christian based health care for getting pregnant. The issue is they are leaving and not taking new patients. Just use a turkey baster.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've gone to most practices in this area and they all seem supportive of all family types (LGBTQ, single women, etc). Some doctors just have long waits until you can get an appointment. Perhaps it was that without proper communication.

My gut tells me it’s just an admin / patient load issue. If the recommended person has a super long wait list they probably are just trying to be efficient. Best of luck, OP!

I work in healthcare. I wouldn’t be offended by this, as some physicians in group practices specialize in certain areas over their colleagues in the same practice. Or perhaps they’re not taking on new patients at the moment. It could be a lot of different reasons. It sounds like to me, the person helping you didn’t communicate this very well.

Perhaps she just isn’t taking new patients right now?

It may be that they do not deal with people who need donor eggs (additional admin work). I'd be surprised if they did not want to take care of you as a matter of principle. They are, after all, commercial enterprises... Which clinic did your OB recommend?

I'm a single woman looking to get pregnant with a donor and when I called the RE my gyn recommended they told me I should see another RE in the practice? Am I being paranoid or is this weird?
