I love my 2005 Odyssey, which has been incredibly reliable. I will drive it until it dies. That being said, it is horrible and scary in the snow and ice--no traction whatsoever. This has not been much of a problem for our family since my husband's car has AWD, but it's definitely something to think about in climates that get a lot of winter weather.

Also have a Sienna. It's really old. I'm too embarrassed to say how old. It's been incredibly reliable, safe, and stable.

It was almost impossible to find a gently used one (that would have been our preference) because once you buy one, you tend to hold onto it forever!

We're on our second Sienna and have been really happy with them. Very low-maintenance, decent gas mileage for the class of vehicle, can fit anything into it. Our 2008 also took a major hit (someone ran a red light and t-boned us), and no one was hurt, other than some minor bruising where the seatbelts caught.

The Sienna also drives more like a large car/small SUV, which was a deciding factor for us. I found it drove a little bit smoother/easier than the Odyssey, which is also a solid choice.

We didn't consider the Pacifica, so I can't comment, but I understand their handling on snow/ice is not good. We also did not consider the Town & Country because the wheelbase is too wide and it handles more like a truck.

God I love my 2011 Sienna! In the 8 years I have had it, we only had to do repairs.on it once, just recently. I was just thinking today how it drives like I am on a cloud. Quiet, smooth, safe and oh so convenient! We also test drive the Odyssey at the time and I remember it being a 'harder" drive. But to the PPs point the Sienna was redesigned that year, while the Odyssey wasn't, so that might have weighed a little in the decision. Clearly, it held up great, and I fully expect to get another 2-3 years out if it with minimal maintenance.

Don’t discount the sienna! I drive a 2016 and that thing is a workhorse. Not sexy, but I really appreciate that car.

I definitely think it matters if you get snow. My friend says her Pacifica is terrible even in light snow.

The AWD helps on steep driveways but otherwise not much.

You can’t go wrong between Sienna and Odyssey.

About to make the leap into mini van world. Anyone else go through this recently? What did you choose and why?
