sorry - meant to say low fat DAIRY is outdated. Mediterranean diet at least advocates for healthy fats, but the science on low fat dairy is outdated. Real health benefits of full fat but should be organic and grassfed.

Is this some different diet than what I actually eat in the Mediterranean country? Didn't realize there was an actual weight loss diet called that. We eat a lot of animal fat, lard, butter, etc. In fact that is how we ate and fried and cooked, our own pigs, our own rendered lard, until 80 when these fads started showing up and nasty trans fats. But, some of us continued to eat the same way as in 1910... and then I moved here and now I have to pay attention and spend ton of money of leaf lard!

I have always been a huge supporter of the Mediterranean diet.

If you want to lose weight, count and restrict your calories. That is the whole story.

It depends on what you used to eat.

If so, what changes have you noticed, and how long have you been following? It’s supposed to reduce cholesterol and blood pressure, but I’m wondering about any visible changes like weight loss?
