One thing I can tell you about Kidslanguage Art and my daughter (7) is very effective because there is no translation and her teacher is very firm speaking Spanish only, yet she understands everything because they use really great teaching aids. I think that this could really help your son with the system at his FCPSC immersion program.

My son has been in the FCPS dual language immersion program for two years and gets his math and science instructions in Spanish. He does not have any exposure to Spanish outside the program. We just had our parent teacher conference and was informed by the teacher that all classroom instruction in a group needs to be translated to him in English before he can do independent work. Recent private testing indicated that he has issues with working memory and processing speed. Due to this feedback we are going to be pulling him out of the immersion program and focusing his academic instruction on what is best for his individual needs. However, he wants to continue learning and speaking Spanish so we are thinking of putting him into classes at Kids Language Arts. Our goal for him would be to have him build upon his existing conversational skills and get opportunities to practice speaking Spanish and are not expecting fluency. I was really impressed by their play based approach to learning a new language. If any parents can provide feedback on the program and whether their kids got to a reasonable level of conversational fluency I would greatly appreciate it
