I know the Honda Odyssey Touring Edition only came with run-flat Michelin PAX tires for a number of years. They were a unique size that could not be replaced with regular tires, had a short tread life, were noisy and were 2x times the price of regular tires.

Reason enough for me to get the ES-L version. I find flats to be uncommon and not a big deal when they happen. (twice in 20 years of driving)

Check into the expected tread life and replacement cost for your model.

If your car comes with them as standard, can you replace them with regular or are they a part of a car design?

Love them for drinking in the city. I think you're not supposed to drive over 50 on them off you're under inflated so my city commute is perfect with my car

Hate them. More expensive and need replacement more often because they can’t be fixed. Will only buy a car with regular tires from now on.

They don’t last very long, end up replacing at 35-40k.

They come standard on my wife's Mercedes. The good: get a nail in the tire, and you can keep driving, no changing flats.
The bad: get a nail in the tire, and you have to buy a brand new tire.
We have had to buy two brand new tires over three years because of nails. The old tires had very little wear on them.

Run flats are pure crap.
They ride hard and their tread life is very short.
I’d avoid them at all costs.

Do you find them adding a cost to the car ownership?
