We thought a lot about moving but didn't have a lot of choices. We live in DC and the publics are pretty terrible. So, kid stuck with the mean girl situation.

Move. You're not impressed with the academics, and your kid is unhappy. Move sooner rather than later, so she has time to make new friends at her new school.

We are at a big 3, DD loves the school but there are terrible mean girls. We ask her every year to leave but she wants to stay. I know mean girls are everywhere so until she tells me she wants to leave, we aren’t pulling her out. But we will in a heartbeat if she asks us to.

I have to ask: have you tried working with the administration(s), or are you just pulling your kid out?

If it's a small school (e.g., 1-2 classes per grade), I might pull my kid. If a bigger group--my kid's cohort has 5 classes, for example--I'd perhaps hope for a better mix next year.

OMG, what is wrong with kids these days? What kind of terrible parents let their kids become such monsters that other kids want to leave their school to get away from them?!

We pulled ours out in 3rd and 5th, and mean girls were 80% of the issue. They're much, much happier in a larger school where there are more choices for friendships.

Move on unless she's in 2nd or 3rd.

Daughter is having a very hard time finding girls to be friends with, and this is May. She will be stuck with this group for at least another 5 years. Move or stay? Not super impressed with the curriculum also. I’ve met all the girls through parties and volunteering, and it’s not the warmest group of kids. I think we got stuck with maybe the wrong mix this year, wondering when to cut losses and move on.
