Toyotas. My mechanic says Toyota, even used one better than most other cars. He also says Honda, but I don't like them due to CVT and BIL had one that was 5 years old just break down out of the blue. Nothing with a Toyota. Depends on your budget for gas monthly which one to get. If you can get a Highlander that would be my choice.

I'm loyal to Toyota. I drove my echo for almost 13 years. I've had my prius wagon now for almost 6. I never had anything happen to them except routine maintenance.

I have a forester and I like it. The trunk is a bit small compared to my last car (tribeca).

I thought the outback had a ton of trunk space and wished I’d bought one over my crosstrek, which has very little. Outbacks are more expensive though

We’re happy with our Honda Civic. CRV is also a very nice car. I’d go for the CRV.

We have a Subaru legacy sedan that is great. But I think with two kids and driving a lot, you're going to want the Forester. We rented an Outback once and there was suprisingly little trunk space. If I were going to commit to a forever car for the suburbs (lol) I definitely think it would be a Forester.

I will be moving to the suburbs with two young elementary school kids and need to buy a car. I really don't get excited about cars (I prefer biking to driving), and know very little about them, but I'm looking for something reliable, safe, and that will serve us for a very long time. I'd prefer to spend ~$25K so I'm thinking civic or small SUV (Honda CRV, Kia Sportage). I would greatly appreciate any advice that this group might offer.
