There’s Single Mothers United, a private Facebook group aimed at moms in NoVA. But similar to another PP, I felt that a lot of women in the group were in much tougher situations and were usually looking for advice/support on topics I couldn’t relate to. There was a real sense of community though.

Thanks very much!

Are you an actual single parent (meaning there is no father in the picture at all and you have the child 100% of the time)?

Are you seriously gatekeeping single parenthood? Grow up.

GoMomGo is a good resource for the early days of separation and divorce, but I have found that a lot of the women seeking support are having a much rougher go than I am. So, they are looking for support on things like custody trials and evaluations, whereas I'm looking for support on "how do I get everyone to school and make dinner and do it alone?"

I'm not the OP, but to answer PP, I am an actual single mom with full custody of the kids, who are elementary and middle school aged. I don't know if I meet your criteria, though, as I receive child support but no spousal support.

So, I guess not a "real" single mom if your litmus test is so strict that it does not include receiving child support.

Of course, those of us who are divorced or never married are still single parents, and need support too. You might be better off creating your own support group.

Or adopted as a single woman.

I grew my own from the other divorced or never married moms at daycare. It was a lifeline until I married my now-DH when my youngest was in upper ES. Now that the kids are all in middle school, we barely talk.
