All I want is Chinese for dinner. I'm sure some flowers are in my future as well. We keep it really low-key, and usually go to the park or something.

My family is pretty clueless so this is what will happen (orchestrated by me).
- Day Before
House cleaned a day before (DH will pay for the cleaning person to come one extra time).
Kids will work on the yard (hang some lights, Plant some flowers in containers etc)
Send greetings to my friends, relatives and neighbors on phone and whatsapp

- Day Of
Bed tea
DH makes breakfast for all.
Kids tidy up their rooms and make their beds etc.
We all will dress up and take pictures
Call my mom and MIL on facetime
I will take a nap. Snuggle with my kids. They may or may not give me a card.
Take Out at night and we all watch a movie or show on netflix.

No gifts. I have already bought myself everything I want for the season and I do not have space for things that I do not absolutely love. I will be treating myself to pedicure, facial, massage, tea, drink, walks, trips, lunches etc with my girl friends during the entire month of May.

It sucks that until your kids are old enough to celebrate you, you just don't get celebrated. I mothered all year long and then I get no recognition and have to instead celebrate our moms instead. Sucks. Mother's day should be about celebrating mothers of children under 18.

I think you should tell him you’re off to run some errands and disappear for a few hours. Find a coffee place and sit with a good book and treat yourself. Make Mother’s Day happen!

It's my FIL's bday and he will be staying with us for the weekend. I just realized it was also mother's day and figure it will work out great ... we can have some cake for him but I'll make sure it's something we all like and we'll do an event kind of thing (strawberry picking, wine tasting, etc.) I'll feel plenty celebrated, the kids will have fun, and I hope he will too.

This is one of only a couple times we'll be seeing him without my MIL and I expect it to be great. She stresses me out and is awful to him so him alone should be a nice visit without that drama.

Playing 2nd fiddle to MIL who "all she wants for mothers day is to see her son and grandchildren." All I want for mother's day is to be celebrated myself and to not have to travel.

DH asked me what I wanted him to do. Kid is 12. I said it wasn't Wives Day, it was Mothers Day, and he should tell kid to make me a card and walk up the street and buy donuts. And then everyone leave me alone to read books, garden, and wallow in solitude.

My dad is having bypass on May 9th so we’re not really thinking that much about it this year.

Our child is making first communion, so I have to host everyone at our house after.
