Move on but write a letter to the owner about this jerk.

They know he is a jackass. What is pointing out to them accomplish? They don't care because he makes sales hence being head of sales. If I avoided every dealership with a jackass sales person I wouldnt own a car.

I’m 100% with you, OP. There are plenty of dealers/salespeople vying for your business. Don’t work with a jerk who treats you or others poorly. Speak t the sales manager and request to work with the salesman you prefer. Tell the manager you appreciated his professionalism and work ethic. No need to say anything about the jerk. Wait until the sale is complete to make any color complaints.

I bought a new car last year. I called in advance to test-drive something they advertised. I drove it, liked the car, liked the (older) salesman- did NOT like the money guy they sent out for me. I said I would come back to finalize the deal as long as that guy was not present. I went back, they gave me a different deals guy who did not understand "no." I told him he was wasting my time, and left. The car is fine. I did not take them up on the free oil change from the dealership. I would rather pay the $54 than sit in that place for 4 hours waiting.

This happened with us. We went to another dealership and they actually pulled the car from them and matched the deal.

Or you could talk to subordinate and see if he gets any commission?

I had that experience several times and one guy I called him on it. The irony was he told us as retirees we were not eligible for the military discount as he was not as a veteran. He did not understand the difference between veteran and retiree and got really annoyed I was price shopping. He claimed to beat any price but when it came down to it he wasn't cheapest due to high dealer fees.

OP cares, that's why he/she wrote this post. I would care too. Why reward negative behavior with a sale?

OP, can you ask the nice person directly if they are a salesperson? If not, ask to speak to someone else and explain what you wrote here. If the jerk is the only person you can buy from, go to another dealership.

You are there to buy a car, not to make friends or change the world.

This happened to us at a local dealership and we bought our car elsewhere. The first dealership called for a review, and I told them which person had ruined the deal for us.

I'd shop other dealerships. If they're that hot to get you, they will call you a few times over the next week--the dealership manager may even call you--and at that point you should tell him you'd love to give the dealership your business, but couldn't stand the idea of giving the jerk the commission.

Tell him you want to do the sale if the other guy gets the commission. If that is impossible (other guy is not in sales), ask for anyone other than the jerk.

So I went to buy a car today. Did some good negotiating and they will have the car I think I want ready for me to see on Friday.
The guy who is probably selling me this car is rude to his subordinates. He’s head of sales. Egotistical and condescending comes to mind. The guy under him is a knowledgeable about every car (more than my sales dude) a veteran, a person of color and soft spoken.
I don’t want to give this pompous sales guy the commission but he is giving me a good deal and I’m not sure the subordinate is in sales.
I can tend to go ballistic when I see this kind of thing.
My goal is to draw attention to this jacka$$ salesperson to try to make the workplace better for his subordinates.
What would you do to effect a positive change?
