For over one year, I have been driving by a beautiful new house on Loughboro, and wondering if it will ever sell.

The developer listed it for sale in December 2024 for over $5 million, and it is still sitting there in April 2026 (now listed for $4.65 million).

The house is large and beautiful, but the problem is obvious -- the house is located on a busy street and right on the corner. Yet the developer made no effort to put a stone wall or any type of privacy fence around it. (A wooden fence would look cheap at this particular house, in my opinion.) I wish we'd see more handsome privacy walls like you see in Europe, as I think it would really improve the experience for those who live on a busy street.

For some I suppose. I relocated to NW from Chevy Chase, and perhaps I'm "too old" to get used to it? Although I don't consider 39 old (I'm bias). I wonder if my boy/girl 7 yr old twins will get used to it eventually?

The plane noise is quite a deterrent.

Loughboro road is busy, especially during morning and evening rush hour, but so is most places in the city. I'm a realtor in DC and live in the Palisades. I am personally not used to the planes yet, going on 7 years. If you or your husband want any neighborhood information, or price trends, I love helping out fellow neighbors.

Busy road, plus environmental issues both from the munitions and low flying airplanes (thus street is on the DCA flight path), plus noise from ambulances.

It’s not that bad, most of the time. I cross it on foot, going from Spring Valley to Palisades, with great ease most of the time. BUT, rush hours are a totally different story.

This area was a massive dumping ground for chemical weapons testing in the 1920s, launched from the site of AU. Multiple homes and ground in that area are contaminated.

And yes, the road is a major thorough fare. We live on a much smaller street near Georgetown Hospital and plenty of ambulance traffic. I'm sure Loughboro is worse.
