Hell no. The kids do enough busy work at school, they don't need more over the summer. They will be at camp, on family vacation, and hanging out at the pool with friends. There will be late night fires with Smores, lazy mornings in pjs, visits to downtown DC, time with relatives andfriends, reading for enjoyment, bit absolutely no school work!

Keyboarding 20 minutes a day. Reading at least thirty minutes daily. Work on math facts.

I'll have a 4th grader. I'll make her do reading and practice math facts.

This. My kid doesn't mind a little HW, so it'll probably be like 30 min most days when she gets home from camp.

Weeks she is in camp no. This is majority of the summer. Weeks she is home i might. (7yo)

The school makes available an optional packet to prepare for the next grade. Will do this but not much else throughout the summer, other than keeping up with kid’s language skills (immersion school).

Rising 2nd grader. Nope, just 30 mins reading a day.

We will for our rising 5th grader. Math. Some writing like short essays or little reader responses to some books. Some fun chemistry stuff and/or simple things with the microscope. Maybe a bit of light history related to our vacation destination.

The school gives them a math packet, 1-page per week. That plus the reading they do anyway is sufficient IMO

I had summer work too, I didn't mind that much. I know others are against it, you do you. But my kid is just fine doing some work over the summer and she has plenty of time to relax and play.

Yes, for my 3rd and 4th grader. Some math for sure and writing is a good idea, though I am not sure what specifically I will do there. Our school suggests reading a certain amount of books per grade level and that is always done.

I grew up with summer homework and projects. My book reports were adorned with drawings and stickers - it was wonderful to learn without the worry of grades and the school day!

I will have my DD, rising fourth grader, do some weekly math (Beast Academy) and some writing. No required reading because she does that anyway. How about you?

Does your school give summer homework? I don't think my DD's does, though maybe they will this year.
