Who in their right mind invented the term

Someone, like most people, for whom a crossover doesn’t conjure thoughts of death?

Equally successful marketing term would be probably "bad marriage". I am not a great fan of neither the term or a concept because all those cars look like you took a regular SUV and the Shrek stepped on it. It looks mighty squashed and you can not see a thing while you drive. What is with those disappearing back windows?

Who in their right mind invented the term and why in heaven they could not come with something less terminal? This is cars for goodness sake we are talking about and any type of crossing over should not be lingering in the air when someone want to relax and enjoy the ride.
