Our high performing school definitely made a big stink about the PARCC.

DCUM: I know that my child's school is a good school because it has high test scores.

Also DCUM: The tests are dumb, how come my child has to take them?

My child's home school did no prep for PARCC. When she moved to a magnet program in a lower rated score, they had PARCC prep. I think it is the reverse of what PP stated. Affluent schools do not need to prep.

It's probably an attempt to mitigate all the prepping that happens exclusively at the affluent schools and levels the playing field.

Our 5th Grader had practice for the PARCC test as well. Seriously. Practice for the PARCC in 5th grade. I get it if the student is new to the system - take them aside and give them a chance to see the test format, but for kids who have already taken it for two years, why set aside yet more instructional time to PRACTICE?!

And everybody here goes crazy over test scores regardless.

They're calling it the Maryland State Assessment this year, but it's still PARCC and taking the test can be a challenge. If you have a 3rd Grader, they're probably teaching them so they don't get confused.

NEXT YEAR there will be a different test.

But it isn't next year, yet. So THIS YEAR, it's still PARCC.

The next test isn't ready and the schools are obligated by law to have a test. The kids will do PARCC one more year.

The test format is harder than the test itself. I failed it, my kid didn't. He knew the answer without reading it.

Who is practicing for PARCC?

Why are students being asked to practice for PARCC? It is such a waste of time. And the county is dumping the test next year!
