The odd thing is that Grilled Oyster and Millie’s have similar menus and prices. Millie’s has a slightly more casual vibe and Grilled Oyster had a better bar. Oyster had lots of offstreet parking in the Giant garage and housing density (apartments, condos on top and nearby). Millie’s is in a non-dense area of SFHs. Yet Millie’s is packed every night but Grilled Oyster struggles.

Rent increase is killing a lot of small business.

All the places there seemed ridiculously overpriced. Plus parking isn't validated and the building is ugly as sin.

Grilled Oyster. It was fine. We were partial to it because it was an independent-owned business, when most of the places at Cath-Com are corporate restaurant concepts.

Grilled Oyster was pretty isolated from the restaurant row of busy spots along Wisconsin and around the corner on Macomb. The food was fine -- as in OK and the ambiance was underwhelming. It wasn't a particularly family-friendly place. All the other restaurants in that area have at least two of those factors going for them. (The only expection to that rule is Barcelona, which has just OK food, but more updated design and the wine bar, fire pits, etc.) And all the other restaurants are packed.

No - and Castus is not in an ugly building.

Agree that the building is ugly. The design looks like a mid/budget hotel next to an airport. Maybe Giant bought the plans cheap from Holiday Inn Express.

The 6-story homeless shelter being built at Cathedral Commons probably won’t help.

When Wegmans opens three or four blocks away, they will literally eat Giant’s lunch. Bozzuto, which manages Cathedral Commons, might be lucky to get a Dollar General if Giant closes.

There is nothing overly inviting, most of the stuff is along ugly Wisconsin and isn't family friendly. Who are they targeting hip dink’s (It isn’t a hip place)

Didn’t Giant expect that its supermarket wine bar would attract hip, upscale Millennials?

The second largest restaurant at Cathedral Commons in Northwest has closed, because of slow business. The rumor is that Giant’s business is off as well. What is going on?
