I think that's sweet. I hate my first name though. I love my mom's name (classic name with nicknames) and wish I could name a DD after her, but my MIL's name is awful (Karen) and it wouldn't be even to name after only my mom.

Op: To answer your question. Using your first name as middle name is fine. I have cousins named after the father and the mother as first names!


Sexist because the girls would have names from her family, but not the boys.

I think this would be totally normal. I would have done it with my daughter but my first name didn't quite work with the first name we picked. We used DH's first name for DS middle, why not the same for a girl?

My husband is adamant that he wants to use my first name for our next girl. I am adamant that I do NOT. 1- it is Abigail, which is SO overdone already. 2- I think it's weird.

It's a fine choice, if you like it.

My daughter shares my middle name, also my mother's middle name. It was the first name of one of her grandmothers and middle of the other.

My mom and I have the same middle name. My husband has the same middle name as his father. I don’t think I would re-use my first name, but I would have passed on the middle name if we had a girl. Our second was a boy, so I used my grandfather’s name which starts with the same letter as the middle name.

I know at least two women who named their daughters after them - first name.

My husband is suggesting my first name as our daughter's middle name. It sounds decent with the first name we're honing in on (although maybe a little strange to my ear because it's my name). No one blinks an eye at using dad's name for their kid, but I don't hear of using the mom's much. Thoughts?
