I am still on maternity leave with a three month old. My husband takes him for about half an hour on weekday evenings and 2 to 3 hours on weekend mornings. Otherwise, I am primarily responsible for him and can only really get things done when he is sleeping. My DH does cook dinners and help around the house though.

I have a 2 year old and another on the way. I think on average I get 2-3 hours a week where either my mom or my husband takes charge of her and I leave the house alone. Otherwise it’s primarily me or shared responsibility between the other adults in the house.

Maybe 3 hours a week, but many weeks it’s less. Kids are both young, not in school. Husband takes them (no other family around) and often will take one out for dad time (prob 8 hours a week total). I could have more time, my husband is supportive and loves the kids but I feel like I’m missing out on family time if I am alone.

Do you mean totally or mostly? Most weekday evenings after dinner (apps 1-2 hours)I go upstairs to watch TV and chill while my DH supervises the kids. This has just sort of evolved over time as they want to see him and I don't like his TV choices.

I have a 2 yo. I am responsible for her from wake up (745) til the time my husband gets home (530/6), though 2-3 hrs of that is a nap. My husband hangs out with her until dinner at 630, then he does bath and most of bedtime until crib at 8 pm. On the weekends, we’re kind of both responsible, but he usually takes her somewhere for a couple hours in the mornings.

A few hours per week and that's only if I go swimming.

Yes, PP here, and I should have added this is true for me too.

DH and I agreed when he took a promotion in his career that even if I went back to work, I would be responsible for sick days, snow days, doctors appointments, etc. So I'm hoping to go back to work eventually but will need something with extreme flexibility.

Never, really. Even when they are at school I'm the one on call. It's not like I can head to Rehobeth and for a beach day and relax and drink margaritas. I can get stuff done around the house, I can run errands, I can work out but I need to be ready to snap to it and pick a kid up as needed.

My youngest naps for about 1.5 hours a day, but it's not super reliable, and I'm obviously still responsible for her. I use that time to get stuff done, and, if I'm lucky, work out at home.
Older child is in school until 2:30.

Otherwise the only time I'm NOT responsible for the children, during the week, is when we have a babysitter come, one afternoon a week for about 3 hours. And some of that time is spent alone with older child (I pick her up from school and we do something special).

I'm otherwise up with the kids and getting them dressed at 6:30 (solo), and putting the kids to bed (usually but not always with DH) around 8:00, so I'm "on duty" all day.

Weekends are typically shared duty with DH, although occasionally I'll get a haircut or something and he'll be solely in charge.

Mine are 5 and 8. One still in preschool. I have between 9:30 and 1:00 five days a week. Usually they don't have a full week or various reasons though.

Kids are 4, 7, 9, 10. The older three are in school full time. The youngest is in preschool 6 hours/wk.
I am always responsible for all of them. If there is any sort of problem at school, I deal with it. My oldest is autistic, so this isn’t as unusual as it would be with other children.
But I have six hours/wk with no kids during the day.
I also go rowing three days a week from 4:30-6:30, but I am back before kids get up, so I am not sure if that counts.

Between 3 and 6 hours. 99% of that relief time is provided by my mom. My kids are 8, 6, 3.

I WAH and watch DD. I *might* be off 1-2 hours a day, not including sleep, but those are usually used for cooking, cleaning, or things like showers.

OP what about hours of shared duty with spouse?

Whether through hired help, school, or your spouse, how many hours per week are you not the person responsible for supervising kids and how old are your kids?
