We mixed it with applesauce or yogurt smoothie (yogurt + frozen banana + berries) on our last round of it. Chocolate syrup didn't do the trick for our child, sadly (though admittedly we didn't mix it 1:1!) It is pretty yucky, even when it's flavored, so I don't blame the kids.

We had the same issue — that sh*t is foul. We also resorted to antibiotic shots to avoid taking this particular drug. It was worth it. Our kid wasn’t into chocolate at the time so the Hershey’s syrup recommendation didn’t work for us at all and she flat out rejected everything else we put it in.

We mix it with Danimals yogurt. It covers the bitter taste. The yogurt is super sweet and sugary. It is one of the few times my kids get Danimals so they are excited to drink it. Everyone I told who had tried this has been successful.

Re: the Hershey's- I'm a pediatrician and a parent actually told me that trick years ago. I've suggested it many times since then and many parents have told me it worked like a charm. I hope it works for you too! Make sure to add enough of the syrup- really make it a 1:1 mix.

Hershey’s is an interesting idea! She might go for that. I called CVS about the flavoring and they said the one i got has orange flavor in it already but my daughter obviously thinks it’s not flavored enough.

She’s 2, but she doesn’t understand bribes in general. I can try the M&M but I don’t think she’d understand.

Haven't read other responses- but I always suggest to mix it 1:1 with hershey's chocolate syrup. It's so thick and sweet that it cuts the taste better than anything else.

My doc switched our rx to amid when I called about this issue. Day 1, he ate more than half a dose... but day two was refusing or spitting out etc.

That’s nice, but there’s a 50-50 chance your kids going to puke it up within a few hours anyway - & that won’t taste like bubblegum.
My son took out most of a Chuck E Cheese on that stuff (prescribed for an swimmers ear).

Our doc recommended that we get the augmentin flavored by the pharmacist when he/she mixes it. CVS has bubblegum, berry or grape. Our son (2yo) likes the bubblegum enough to not fight it.

How old is she? Would she be old enough to be bribed with something like an M&M if she gets it all down?

Is it possible to take it back to the pharmacy and have flavoring added?

My daughter gagged and spit out half of it. She gladly takes all other meds so this must be gross. Any other tips for how to get her to take it? She isn’t a big drinker even when we’ll so hiding it in a drink isn’t a great option and she isn’t eating much right now unfortunately. That makes hiding meds hard.
